I have always been intrigued with our differences…the qualities which make us unique.
My name is Crystal Punch and I am a Davis Dyslexia facilitator, DLS mentor and visual Spatial Learning coach. I have been in education for 30 plus years. My journey began as a math and science teacher at The Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning. I discovered that some of my brightest students struggled to communicate in writing what they understood. This began my journey to understand them, myself and my own family. All of us were visual thinkers with great imaginations!
“The Gift of Dyslexia” by Ron Davis shifted my perception of learning. I became a Davis Facilitator in 2001. From here I was led to Linda Silverman and the Gifted Development center.Linda wrote “Upside Down Brilliance” This book explains the characteristics of visual learners and the scope of differences. It was also here that through testing, I discovered that my son was twice exceptional or 2E, dyslexic, dysgraphic and dyscalcula and very bright.
My son became my best teacher in understanding neurodiversity. Together, we did all of the Davis Programs starting with his reading struggles and ending with his dysgraphia. Today, he is a secondary English and Social Studies teacher- always campaigning for neurodiverse teaching techniques.
I am honored to have worked with hundreds of families and teachers to support their understanding of these creative, capable, quirky, sensitive but often misunderstood individuals.
I love being a Davis Facilitator and also working with schools to help teachers understand these amazing learners. Dyslexia and visual learning traits are passed down in families. In my opinion, the world needs more of these passionate ,insightful, caring, sensitive individuals
My goal is to help as many people understand themselves and facilitate dynamic learner embrace their learning differences to be whoever they can dream of.
Professional services described as Davis®, including Davis Dyslexia Correction®, Davis Symbol Mastery®, Davis Orientation Counseling®, Davis® Attention Mastery, Davis® Math Mastery, and Davis® Reading Program for Young Learners may only be provided by persons who are trained and licensed as Davis Facilitators or Specialists by Davis Dyslexia Association International.
